It's a decent app, especially for learning kanji and vocab. My only criticism is that they don't offer a membership option that goes month to month, you are forced to choose between a 1 year or 3 year membership plan, shelling out more upfront cash. I would actually subscribe if there were an option with less of an upfront cost, but due to the restrictive subscription model, unfprtunately I wont be subscribing.

MochiKanji does a good job at teaching textbook "polite" Japanese thru learning words, vocab activities, and daily reviews. It does struggle to pick up "rough" Japanese or "casual" Japanese from time to time. The dictionary is good as a way to look up some words if you know them, but they're not always there. Still, a good introduction to Japanese or a refresher.

I don't understand all the hype about this app. I'm preparing for the N5 exam, and I don't care about having tons of kanji. I'd like to be able to add words to the dictionary chosing which ones I want to memorize with kanji and which with kana. For example, I want to add to the dictionary ゆうえんち instead of 遊園地. The fact that it doesn't let me choose is enough to keep me from getting 3 stars. Furthermore, the grammar doesn't exist; at least a specific section for verb conjugations would be needed.
